Introduction: The genus is closely related to Chamaeanthus Schltr. and represented with five species in New Guinea.
Derivation of genus name: Greek kalymma ( hood) and anthera (anther)
Type species: Lectotype: C. tenuis Schltr. (Kores 1989)
Characteristics of genus: These very rare epiphytic herbs are small plants with racemes of tiny yellowish flowers.
Number of species in New Guinea: 5 - C. tenuis, C. montana and C. major are known from Papua New Guinea while C. filiformis and C. paniculata have been described from Irian Jaya.
