Introduction: Fourteen species in this genus distributed from Burma, Southeast Asia to New Guinea and Australia. The genus is better known by the name Camarotis.
Derivation of genus name:Greek mikros (small) and pera (sac). In allusion to the small, saccate or calceiform lip.
Type species: Aerides pallida Roxb.
Characteristics of genus: Climbing monopodial epiphytes with long thin stems which have numerous support roots emerging from the long stem. The flowers on the short inflocence are upside down (non-resupinate), usually coloured yellow.
